Last Trucks Drive Over Bay Bridge

By Paul Johnson

San Francisco, California (CNN) - San Francisco's bay bridge is officially closed.
The last vehicle, a yellow, model a ford, crossed the bridge just after the 8pm deadline.
The new bay bridge is set to open September third.
Crews are putting the finishing touches on the new span and connecting roads.
The shutdown will force hundreds of thousands of commuters to find an alternate route through Labor Day.
Public transportation will be ramped up during the closure, with BART services running 24 hours a day.
