Red Cap Corner Signal In Kimberly Active On Wednesday

By Paul Johnson

Kimberly, Idaho – The new traffic signal at Red Cap Corner, the junction of U.S. 30 and Idaho 50, is scheduled to begin operating Wednesday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Drivers will need to be aware of new signal and permanent speed and lane changes near the intersection.
The signal will be activated and undergo testing for timing and traffic detection during the day Wednesday. Drivers are reminded to pay close attention as they get accustomed to the new signal.
The speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph for east-west traffic.
The intersection also will feature advanced-warning beacons to give additional notice of an upcoming red light, similar to those used at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Hankins Road in eastern Twin Falls. The reduced speed limit and warning lights will provide a safer speed-reduction area near the signal and is designed to reduce vehicle collisions.
