Surveillance Cameras Aid In Policing Vegas Strip

By Paul Johnson

Las Vegas, Nevada (CNN) - What happens in Vegas may no longer stay in Vegas...
In fact, it's being recorded by police.
For the last couple of months... 37 cameras have been a tool metro police have been using to police the Las Vegas strip.
Some of the high-traffic intersections have several cameras.
They have amazing zoom-in capabilities... And police say they have worked.
"Anywhere you have the kind of money, the kind of activity you have on the Las Vegas Strip, it is always going to bring in folks who want to steal it, rob it, take it away, whatever, and this is just our latest tool in trying to combat that."
Las Vegas police says the regional transportation commission and county public works helped get this system up and running the last couple of months.
The equipment cost roughly three hundred-thousand dollars.
