Nampa Woman Arrested For Burglary Following Traffic Stop

Meridian, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - After watching a woman recklessly drive her Volkswagen out of a store parking lot at Locust Grove and Fairview in Meridian, a Idaho State Police officer initiated a traffic stop. Turns out the woman had allegedly removed merchandise from a store without paying for it. Ciecelia M. Shepard, 26 of Nampa was taken into custody about 2:08pm Thursday. Police say she was driving at a high rate of speed and almost hit another vehicle during the traffic stop the trooper saw several items of clothing on the seat of the car with merchandise and security tags still attached.

The trooper inquired with the store whose parking the woman was leaving regarding the items found in the vehicle. Store employees confirmed the merchandise had been stolen and identified Shepard to the trooper. According to store employees, while frequenting several departments in the store, Shepard was seen putting various items into a bag, also taken from the store, and walking toward the exit. When confronted by store employees, Shepard ran out of the store, entered her vehicle, and sped out of the parking lot.

Shepard was arrested for felony burglary and was booked into the Ada County Jail.
