Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Boise police arrested Amanda L. Thomas, 32 of Boise following a citizens complaint that a child was outside in the middle of the street crying. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight Sunday, December 15. The caller said that a small child was standing alone outside a home in the 3300 block of North 34th Street, crying. Officers arrived quickly and found a five year old child standing outside only wearing panamas. Police say the outside temperature at the time was 27 degrees. They estimate the child had been outside for more than 15 minutes. At nearby home officers found a front door of a resident unlocked.
Fearing for the safety of those inside, the officers entered the residence. They found the suspect passed out in a bedroom. Another small child was also in the room. Officers woke the suspect and could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Detectives with the Boise Police Special Victim's Unit were called and placed the two children into the protective custody of Idaho Health & Welfare.
