Washington D.C. ( CNN ) - Arizona senator John McCain faces major criticism from his own party this morning.
The Arizona Republican party has censured McCain for what it calls his "long and terrible" record of working with liberal democrats.
Party leaders voted on the rebuke over the weekend.
This means the state GOP will not work to support, endorse or campaign for McCain should he run for re-election in 2016.
In its censure, the Arizona Republican party called McCain's record "disastrous" and a "disservice to our state and nation".
Senator McCain's office did not comment on the vote.
