Propane Prices Increase Thanks To Cold
Helena, Montana (CNN) - A colder than usual winter in the east and Midwest has been driving up demand -- and prices -- for propane. Montana's propane service manager says the price of the heating fuel has increased by more than a dollar-fifty per gallon since last winter.
And the current price is more than three dollars per gallon.
There is less supply in Montana, because some of it is being sent to the east and mid-west.
But wholesale suppliers expect prices to stabilize once temperatures rise in those areas.
We're okay right now; we're not seeing any real rationing-type thing going on it's just that the price has gone way up.
Residents using propane for heating can conserve energy by turning down their thermostat a few degrees.
