$80-Million Settlement In Cemetery Body Dumping

By Paul Johnson

Los Angeles, California (CNN) - A Los Angeles judge gave preliminary approval Thursday for an 80-million-dollar settlement in a class action lawsuit against a Jewish cemetery.
More than 25-thousand Jewish families accused the owners of eden memorial park of dumping human remains in order to make room for more graves.
The settlement will be used to pay for plaintiffs to move loved ones to a new cemetery... And to pay for a full refund for what they paid to eden memorial park.
Defense lawyers said the cemetery's owners were not admitting any wrongdoing.
They say they agreed to the settlement simply because it was less expensive than legal fees if the case went to trial.
The settlement requires Eden memorial park to make substantial changes to make sure the alleged wrongful activity doesn't happen in the future.
