Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona (CNN) The state of Arizona will continue to fund the Grand Canyon National Park during the partial government shutdown.

Last week, the state struck a deal to fund the park at a cost of 93 thousand dollars a day for at least a week.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer announced Wednesday that the state will pay for an additional nine days - funding the park through October 27th.

If the shutdown ends before then, the state will be given back any unused funds.

Arizona leaders plan to ask congress to reimburse any state dollars used to fund park operations.
