Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV / Idaho Statesman ) The widow of four–term Idaho Senator Frank Church and the grand dame of Idaho Democrats has passed away.
The Idaho Statesman is reporting that Bethine Church died Saturday at the age of 90.
Her son Chase Church in a Facebook post says she passed away of old age.
Senator Church served 24 years in the U.S. Senate and chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
The Boise paper reports that Bethine was Frank's partner in his public career.
Upon news of Bethine's passing, some lawmakers weighed in including Senator Mike Crapo.
Crapo writes, "Idaho has lost a great friend and advocate. Bethine had a way to mix civility with politics that is too often forgotten on the national scene. I will miss her input and charm and I join with all Idahoans in mourning the passing of this Idaho legend."
