Boise Man Dies In Boogie Boarding Accident
Boise, Idaho ( KBOI ) A Boise man is dead following a boogie boarding accident Saturday afternoon.
Crews rescued the man earlier Saturday behind the Willow Lane Athletic Complex, but he was hard for them to get to. He was way back behind that island.
Dive crew members say the man was boogie boarding, using a rope tied to a tree.
He was with a couple of friends, who say they saw him in the water, and thought he was coming back to shore, but found him under water shortly after.
They pulled him out and did CPR until crews got there. EMS took him to Saint Alphonsus, where he died shortly after. Responders say this is a reminder, to be extra careful on the river.
As Steve Rasulo, of the Boise Fire Department explains, "people need to be aware that while the boise river is actively floated every day by hundreds if not thousands of people, it's still a river. There are still hazards that are contained along the river...trees that can trap them, slip and trip and fall hazards, people can strike their head. And so we do suffer some serious injuries every year on the river."
Rasulo says if you do come to this part of the river, take extra precautions. Because of all this brush, it's hard for crews to get to you in case you have trouble.
