Businesses Building And Expanding In Twin Falls

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) New construction sites are popping up across Twin Falls. The city's community development director is encouraged by the growth.

"Really we have to go back to 2008 before we see numbers higher than where we are at this year. And 2008 was kind of the tail end of a real boom but also right before we really fail off pretty far and we're climbing back out of almost our pre fall levels of activity," said Community Development Director Mitch Humble.

And that activity will carry on as the planning and zoning commission continues to review and issue new building permits. There's been a twenty three percent increase in permits issued this year compared to last year.

"We've issued a permit for a new hotel over by Walgreens at Washington and Pole Line and that's under construction right now. You'll see when you go out there they are digging holes in the ground and fence around it and signs that tell you to where your hard hat. That's always a good sign," said Humble.

The hotel is a Fairfield by Marriott. Just down the road several new lots are getting ready to be developed near Randy Hansen. One of those lots will house a new Davita Dialysis Center. In addition by spring of 2014 at the corner of Addison and Eastland there will be a new Idaho Central Credit Union.

"Business has been really good. It's a great time for members to join credit unions. So with our current location on pole line we are just out of space. We've had a high demand for a location kind of on the other side of town for access, a lot of member requests," said Jeff May, Idaho Central Credit Union Branch Manager.

Idaho Central is also building another new branch near the new canyon park west development. All of these developments according to humble are adding to the community.
