CSI Celebrates Groundbreaking Of Softball Facility

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) After years in the making, a major project is seeing fruition at the College of Southern Idaho.

The groundbreaking of a new softball facility commenced Monday evening in front of CSI athletes, faculty and distinguished guests.

The $700,000 project features a new field house, plus two berms.

Many might not know that the softball program is relatively new, their first competitive year was only in 2007.

Right now capacity is at 400 for the fans, but that will slightly increase with the bleachers.

CSI has hosted the Region 18 tournament the last two years and it's not surprising if 4 to 500 people attend the event.

The team will use Canyon Ridge in the mean time while construction is underway. Officials estimate the project should be completed by December.
