California Approves Emergency Funds For Drought Relief

By KMVT News

Fresno, California (CNN) California lawmakers announced new legislation for emergency drought funding Wednesday.

Governor Jerry Brown said it was a "call to action."

The massive 687-million dollar bill provides funding for food and housing for workers directly impacted by the drought.

Money will also go toward getting new water-conserving technologies up and running, like projects to collect water that's normally lost to evaporation or that flows into the ocean.

The legislation also lays the groundwork for future state initiatives to use recycled water and to capture more storm water.
