Dedication Ceremony For New Hangar At St. Luke’s
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The newest addition to Saint Luke’s Magic Valley hospital was christened Thursday afternoon.
Air Saint Luke’s helicopters are a major aspect of the hospital.
And when it was built, pilots were stationed out in Jerome, where the closest hangar was located.
Meaning valuable, life-saving time was wasted in the shuffle.
That's when it became clear that a new, on location hangar was a necessity for the hospital.
After over a year of fundraising and 750-thousand dollars later, the hospital has just that.
Thursday afternoon the community and hospital staff came out for a special hangar dedication ceremony to officially open the new hangar for service.
"Six months out of the year, our helicopters had to move over to Jerome during the winter months. There was no crew quarters, so the crew had to stay about a mile and a half away, which increases response time by about 10 to 15 minutes. Having the helicopter in this beautiful hangar, 100 yards away from what I think is one of the best trained crews in Idaho, is going to benefit our community immensely," says Dr. Kevin Kraal, Medical Director, Air Saint Luke’s.
During the dedication ceremony, guest speakers made a few presentations, followed by a big thanks to all of the donors that made the whole thing possible.
After the ceremony, the hangar was opened for those who attended the event.
They were then able to tour the new hangar and speak with the flight crews.
