Buhl, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A Filer grad and Buhl Legion baseball player has inked his way to the next level.

Kaleb Whitlock, a four–sport athlete will play baseball next year at Big Bend Community College.

He joins Kaleb Price, a Canyon Ridge grad and Ridge Lee of Kimberly on the Vikings roster.

Whitlock batted .390 in Legion baseball.

His Big Bend coaches predict Whitlock will play third base and pitch, although he prefers being on the mound.

Whitlock signed his letter of intent in front of family and friends at the Buhl legion field.

He looked at other schools such as Walla Walla and Treasure Valley, but Big Bend won him over.

Whitlock adds, "it just has a right feel. The town's small, just like Twin, has a right fit for me. The coaches were great, even the kids I talked to, everybody I liked."

"He came in this year, we talked a bunch this summer about having a leader and wanting someone to step into that leadership role and he thrived in that. He stepped up and tried to get the guys up and get the attitude and morale up and that was great for us to have a senior that was willing to do that," explains Buhl Legion coach, Marcus Schaal.

On Wednesday we'll preview the A district tournament that begins Thursday.

Buhl missed districts this year. The program is hoping to improve numbers and develop kids sooner in the youth leagues.
