Fire Destroys Some UPS Freight

By Paul Johnson

Bliss, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Bliss Fire Chief Levi Dill said that the cause for a weekend fire that destroyed a UPS Truck will go undetermined. By the time the fire department arrived, Dill said the truck was fully involved. Bliss fire asked for mutual aid from area fire departments who assisted in battling the blaze.

An official for UPS said the trailer was loaded with UPS freight. Sandy Adkins with UPS said, “UPS Freight is the heavy freight division of UPS, so the trailer was carrying palletized shipments, not the parcels that generally are associated with UPS’s familiar brown trucks. In general, the shipments involved in the incident originated from points along the West Coast and were headed to various points along the East Coast. We are in the process of assessing the affected shipments and will notify shippers about their disposition.”

Dill said his department wasn’t going to put a value on the shipment, leaving that to UPS.
