San Diego, California (CNN) - Now that Bob Filner is out as San Diego's mayor, there is speculation about who will run in a special mayoral election.

Former councilman Carl DeMaio and acting mayor Todd Gloria are two possible contenders. Today DeMaio announced he will not run for mayor, but is still committed to serving San Diego. DeMaio narrowly lost to former mayor Bob Filner last November by about 10,000 votes.

Todd Gloria also announced today on Twitter that he will not run for mayor. Gloria said, "the enormous task of cleaning up City Hall requires him to lead a focused team effort that produces quick results for San Diego."
