Full Containment Expected For Beaver Creek Fire

By Brittany Cooper

Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The lightning-caused Beaver Creek fire is expected to be fully contained Saturday.

Minimal fire occurred on Friday, but heavy smoke from the Kelley Fire drifted in to the Wood River Valley. That fire is 25 air miles west of Hailey.

A Type 3 organization has taken command of the fire.

There is no threat from the Beaver Creek Fire to the surrounding communities.

Handcrews and engines will continue to mop up a small portion of the northern perimeter of the fire. Plus, two light helicopters will be used Saturday for bucket drops and to move equipment needed to support ground crews.

Containment lines are being rehabbed in the Baker Creek Drainage.
Homeowners in the Newman Summer Home Tract were allowed back into the area Friday evening.

Several trails within the burned area closure are now open. This includes the Adam Gulch, Lake Creek, Fox Creek, Chocolate Gulch and Oregon Gulch Trailheads. Forest Trail #328 in the Bald Mountain Permit Area is open, as well as the Warm Springs Road, #227 from the National Forest boundary to Rooks Creek. Information on open areas is available on the Sawtooth National Forest website or Inciweb.
