Give Kids the World Pancake Day Around The Corner
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV )
It's hard to beat pancakes for a good cause, but that's exactly what Perkins has in store this Thursday.
Tony Link, owner of Perkins in Twin Falls, is looking forward to one of his favorite events of the year.
Says Link, "we love kids, we're a family restaurant, we want to take care of families. So it's something we just really feel special and proud to be a part of."
Perkins aims to raise donations to fund the Give Kids the World Village in Florida.
Says Link, "It's a 70 acre resort down there that we have set up for kids with life threatening illnesses and their families to come down and experience a lot of fun."
Guests are encouraged to give donations in lieu of the cost of the pancakes.
Says Samantha Jones, one of the servers, "my favorite part of the event is just getting to know the people coming and being able to let them know that it is a meal for a good cause."
Last year at Give Kids the World Pancake Day, Perkins nationwide raised over 100 thousand dollars serving up delicious short stacks like these for kids in need.
Says Jones, "We're very excited. It's fun, everyone gets together, and we just have a good time with it."
Over the years, local families have benefited from the charity.
Says Link, "the reactions that we get from the families coming back was that it was a fantastic experience and the kids really enjoyed themselves down there."
Helping a good cause, one bite at a time.
And the secret to their recipe? Well they are keeping it just that, but they do use real pancakes and buttermilk.
