Hagerman, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) - The Hagerman National Fish Hatchery is marking a milestone. Tomorrow they are celebrating eighty years of service with fun for the whole family.

"We've been in The Magic Valley for 80 years now and we've been delivering fish locally," said Craig Eaton, from the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery.

The hatchery is opening its doors for a celebration tomorrow to recognize its longevity.

"The hatchery started in 1933 as a trout production facility. It changed up in the 1930s and was restructured to become a steelhead hatchery and we are excited to celebrate the hatchery we have," said Anna Ray, Fisheries Program Assistant.

"Being with the people, and sharing the day with them, and letting them know a little about our history. There's a lot of people that are from this area, and they haven't been to the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery," Eaton said.

Despite being open for 80 years, tomorrow will mark the first celebration of its kind.

"We didn't have a fiftieth, we didn't have a seventy-fifth, so as the new manager I think this celebration will let people know that we've been here for quite a while," Eaton said.

Families can anticipate an action packed day... featuring a variety of activities.

"We have so many fun activities planned. We have mini-golf, we have a casting clinic for all ages, we have a live golden eagle that will be on display," Ray said.

"Lots of kids events.. more or less we're going to be talking about the history up until now," Eaton added.

"We have white sturgeon on display at the hatchery. To see a large historical fish that you can actually pet is so much fun," Ray said.

Commemorating eight decades of raising fish and educating the public.
