Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Hailey is a top ten small town of 2014 according to Liveability.com. The national website ranks quality of life and travel amenities of America's small to mid–sized cities.

It may be no surprise to residents living here as to why Hailey made the top ten list. But to narrow down this list of cities, editors analyzed more data on cities with populations under 20,000 than ever before. They dug into statistics like cost of living, health-care spending, diversity, obesity, and crime.

“There’s a sense of security. I think that’s very important. I think we all feel very secure here and that’s the nice thing about a small town,” said Jane Drussel, President of the Hailey Chamber of Commerce.

The study used over 41 data points to rank cities. One of the search criteria was natural amenities in the area. Hailey certainly has an abundance.

“Everybody knows everybody. It’s nice. It’s Mayberry,“ said local resident, Troy Hartman.

In additional to good schools, Hailey has the highest level of employment and the greatest income distribution of any city on the list. According to Liveability.com, who performed the study, one trend they are noticing in cities of all sizes is resurgence of the emphasis on downtowns.
