Idaho Prison Investigates Death Of Maximum Security Inmate

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Authorities at the Idaho Department of Correction Maximum Security Institution say they found a inmate dead in his cell Wednesday night. Officials say at 6:16 p.m., an officer found Richard Damon Dominguez hanging in his cell. Staff members immediately initiated resuscitation measures, which paramedics continued upon their arrival. The inmate was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m. Dominguez was 38 years old. His criminal record included felony convictions for aggravated battery and assault/battery on certain personnel in Kootenai County. He was scheduled to be released on February 16, 2025. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation of the circumstances surrounding Dominguez’s death.
The prison is a 402 bed Men’s Maximum Security prison south of Boise.
