Ketchum Wildfire Evacuees Come South

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) As a result of the wildfire evacuations near Ketchum, hotels near Twin Falls are seeing more guests.

Many Wood River Valley residents already come to Twin Falls to shop at Costco. But countless people have been asked to leave their homes near Ketchum, and many of them are coming south to spend the night.

Denise Young, Sales Manager at the Red Lion Hotel, says, "We are seeing an increase in reservations. We just had a guest call for tonight, who needed three rooms because of the situation. I anticipate we will see additional reservations at our hotel and in our market."

This morning about half of this hotel's rooms had already been rented. The Red Lion Hotel already has fire fighters cycling in and out on a regular basis. The advantage for Wood River residents is there are things for them to do here locally while they wait.
