Legacy Of Music Teacher Lives On Through Scholarship
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A local student is hoping to continue the legacy left by her teacher.
Angie Fillmore passed away on September 10th. Fillmore taught for more than 40 years in the Twin Falls School District.
She was also a musician and played for the Magic Valley Symphony.
Katelyn Durham was one of Fillmore's students. For her senior project, she started a musical scholarship program in Fillmore's name.
"Since I met her, she always had us pushing us to do better and with any talent that we did have to service our community and show our talents to them," explains Durham.
Angie's son, Tim Jacobson says, "with Katelyn doing her senior project as a memorial scholarship thing, I thought it was important for everybody to know that and then also to, for everybody that knew my mother to be aware of what she is leaving behind and what her legacy and what she wants for the future."
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Angie Fillmore Music Scholarship at the College of Southern Idaho. Donations can be sent to The CSI Foundation, PO Box 1238, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301.
Fillmore's memorial service will be held Monday at the Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene, starting at 4 p.m.
