By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) If your parents ever told you that playing with Legos is a waste of time, well over 250 local students will tell you otherwise.

The Southern Idaho State Lego Tournament was held Saturday afternoon at CSI.

48 teams from around the state competed in the Lego Robotics Challenge.

Idaho State University hosts the event to give students aged 9 to 14 the chance to build on skills such as public speaking, problem solving and teamwork.

"We are incorporating our stem education into some activities that kids can do after school or even before school of during school and this gives them the opportunity to shine in their own specialties," explains Suzann Dolecheck, a University of Idaho Extension Educator.
