Pumpkins, costumes, hayrides, and more--Businesses around Twin Falls are preparing for Halloween.
Jay Proost, owner of Proost Family Farms on Addison Avenue, says, "Halloween is turning into a big time holiday for people. It's second to Christmas I think."
Susan Buhler, owner of Poindexter’s Costume shop in downtown Twin Falls, says, "It's a big holiday. Everyone loves dressing up in something they aren't on a regular basis."
Proost Family Farms and Poindexter's Costume shop are two popular places throughout October.
Proost notes, "It's been great, we've been very busy. We've got about five acres of pumpkins here, a lot of squash, (and) a lot of decorative pumpkins."
To get kids even more excited about the holiday, Proost Family Farms offers hayrides throughout the week."
Proost says, "we take about twenty to twenty-five people out on a wagon and we take them out to the pumpkin patch and they pick their own pumpkin. They enjoy doing it."
Meanwhile, Poindexter's is busy outfitting residents with this year's most sought after costumes.
Buhler notes, "pirates are probably the most popular. They have been for numerous years, they still are very popular. We tend to do a lot of the Romans and Greeks and the Medusas along with the scary. Those tend to be our most popular."
Getting a jump start on the holiday is encouraged.
As Buhler notes, “the earlier the better because we have more time to help you out. Our busy time tends to be the weekend before Halloween and we are crazy packed."
