Local Kids Get Free Fluoride Treatments

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) About 30 children got free fluoride treatments in Twin Falls today. That helps prevent cavities and tooth decay.

Workers paint the gel-like fluoride varnish on the children's teeth with a small brush. The treatment is free to children age twelve and under.

Registered Dental Hygenist Tiffany Lund says, "It stays on their teeth until they brush it off, so they're not ingesting it at all. It's just applied topically on their teeth, where it stays until they brush it off in the evening. We suggest that they keep it on at least six hours."

More clinics like this one are planned for Bellevue, Burley, Jerome, and Gooding in the next two months. To sign up, call your local health district office.
