Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Fourteen students from six schools across Twin Falls were honored this afternoon.

The students were recognized for their continuous work in making the community a better place to live.

For over 20 years, the Twin Falls Optimist Club has been celebrating outstanding students from the area.

In years past, the club only recognized local high school students.

But with outstanding work being done all over the valley...

The club decided to branch out a little more.

"This year, we changed a little bit and opened it up to more than just the high schools... Opened it up to the middle schools and private schools of the valley. We just want to honor as many kids as possible and encourage them to be outstanding leaders and give to their community," explained Danae Klimes, president of the Twin Falls Optimist Club.

At the luncheon, the 14 students were awarded a proclamation from the mayor of Twin Falls...

Along with certificates to commemorate the occasion.
