Lodge Pole Fire Near Challis Has Burned 1000 Acres

Challis, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The Lodge Pole fire five miles west of Challis continues to burn. Julie Thomas with the Forest Service said the fire started Saturday July 20 and has burned mostly lodge pole pine. Currently there are 273 personnel working at the scene. So far 1000 acres have burned with zero containment. Evacuations have taken place at mosquito campgrounds and also residents at the top of Challis creek have been told to leave. So far no structures have burned. The cause remains under investigation.
