Meet Singing Sensation Elena Coats
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Twin Falls native Elena Coats might just be the 'next big thing'.
The 16-year old is the only featured artist on the band "We the Kings" new album... after beating out big name artists for the spot.
"When she was four years old, Elena, I remember her in her bedroom one day and she was in her room singing to Sleeping Beauty I believe, it was a song Called Once Upon a Dream and I heard her sing that and I got tears in my eyes and she was only four. From then on, we watched her grow vocally and she was blessed with a talent," says Margie Coats, Elena’s mother and manager.
At 16 years old, Elena Coats has accomplished what many would consider to be a dream.
"I just released my single, "Thunder" on I-Tunes and Spotify and Amazon and I'm also on a band, We the Kings, their new album, I'm the only featured artist on their album, so it's awesome!" Elena explains.
Through some L.A. contacts, Elena met Travis Clark, the lead singer of We the Kings.
A friendship blossomed and Elena performed with the band at two of their concerts.
"So I guess he kind of discovered me because he went on a limb to put me on their album and when they could have used other big artists like Selena Gomez or Hayley Williams from Paramore. That's the other people they were considering," Elena points out.
"It's good to have a professional that's in the industry confirm what you thought all these years," Margie adds.
In January, Elena and Margie head back to L.A. where Elena will be working on a new album and hopefully be signed to a record label.
Even though she calls Taylor Swift an inspiration, Elena Coats wants to have her own sound.
"It just about people hearing my music and sharing my love for it with the world and relating to my songs," she says.
