Meet The City Of Jerome’s New Fire Chief

By KMVT News

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) As we mentioned before, the City of Jerome appointed Tom Hughes as the new Fire Chief.

We spoke with Hughes today as he takes on his new venture.

Hughes has worked in fire service for more than 15 years.

His background stretches across the country, with positions including firefighter and emergency medical technician.

He was hired by Jerome back in April, beating out 36 applicants for Deputy Fire Chief.

Now that he is at the top spot, we find out his plans.

"We've got a lot of great folks here. My goal is to help support them and build them up and continue to do the great things that we've been doing. Our employees are number one for us, so we need to make sure they have all the tools they need to be successful in the job that we have for them," Hughes said.

Hughes would like to see more training and fire prevention done in Jerome.

He tells us the people most at risk for fire deaths are children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
