Memorial Service To Mark Three Year Anniversary Of Japan Tsunami
San Diego, California (CNN) Three years have passed since the deadly earthquake and tsunami flattened parts of Japan and created a nuclear meltdown.
A memorial was held aboard the USS Ronald Reagan Tuesday.
The Reagan was instrumental in relief operations after the March 11, 2011 disaster.
A 9.0 magnitude quake and tsunami killed nearly 16 thousand people and left thousands more missing.
It also caused a partial meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
