Meyerhoffer Twins Sign With College Basketball Teams; Alec To CSI
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Alec and Connor Meyerhoffer have been inseparable their whole life.
From sharing state basketball to golf titles, to growing up as twins, everything is together when it comes to these two.
Everything except where they're playing college basketball.
A momentous occasion for Alec Meyerhoffer, signing with the College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team Wednesday afternoon.
Alec says, "it took me a really long time because there were other colleges that wanted me and I was really grateful for that too, but I grew up here obviously, and I've watched CSI for as long as I can remember, so I chose CSI because they're a great program too."
His family watched as Assistant Coach Brock Morris raved about Meyerhoffer's playing ability and more importantly, character.
Morris says, "he has very good ball skills offensively, he's known to be a great shooter and great defender, but we think he can do more than that. I think he can really get in the paint and create good shots for others. He's an unbelievable person and he's going to bring that character to our team internally and I think that does more sometimes than any other shots you can make."
But signing with CSI means he'll be separated from his twin, as Connor has signed to play at Big Bend Community College in Washington.
"We decided that we weren't going to the same college a little while ago, we would rather go to different place, since we've been playing together since day one," adds Connor.
Connor is joining a NWAC team that's averaged at least 20 wins over the last 26 years.
"He's an excellent quality student athlete. We feel like he has the ability to come in as a freshman and be an impact player for us, good athletic ability, just think he's going to be a great fit in our up–tempo system," adds Big Bend Head Coach Mark Poth.
A bright future for two local boys with a long legacy of athletic success.
