New Superintendent For Minidoka County School District
Minidoka County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) With a PHD in K12 education administration, Doctor Kenneth W. Cox is bringing his energy and love for education to the Minidoka County Schools.
"I'm not here to rock the boat, but I am here to make sure we're going in the right direction. That direction is provided by the school board. I'm hoping I don't make too many waves in changing direction or making us move forward in the same direction we're going”, said Dr. Cox
In that direction is the opportunity to bring new technology into the classrooms.
"Change is always sometimes difficult, because you're not really sure how things are going to go, but Doctor Cox has been very, very good about fulfilling our own goals that we had as a district. We were moving in the direction of technology and we had a wonderful support from our community when they passed our technology levy”, said Ellen Austin 5th grade teacher at Acequia Elementary.
"Thanks to the patrons and the supplemental levy passage this past spring, we're able to move forward with our technology initiative to put a classroom device in the hand of every 4th and 5th grade student this year, and we believe that it is an important step in making sure that the students are prepared”, said Dr. Cox
"It's our opportunity to provide a century 21st classroom, so we're moving into the future. We're preparing our students for careers and opportunities that do not even exist yet, and technology is a big part of that”, said Austin
Being the new face in town and fulfilling all his duties, Doctor Cox has a positive outlook on the future of the Minidoka schools.
"I have felt very supported by the board and the staff, I have had the opportunity to meet with a number of the staff, I have gotten phone calls from members of the community to welcome me here”, said Dr. Cox
Welcoming in a new face and a brand new school year.
