Officers Charge Man With Trafficking After Finding over Five Pounds of Marijuana

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Boise Police say a call from a citizen of illegal drug activity at a bus depot ended with a 23 year old man charged with drug trafficking. The police were notified of the activity about 10:30 am Thursday. An employee at the bus depot recognized the strong odor of marijuana coming from the passenger area of a bus that had just arrived from Oregon. Boise Police patrol officers and Boise Police Narcotics Detectives with the BANDIT task force responded to the bus depot. An Ada County K9 alerted on the suspect's baggage under the bus, indicating the likely presence of drugs. When officers searched the baggage they recovered approximately 5.6 pounds total package weight of marijuana in several heat sealed bags. After a detailed investigation the suspect identified as David J. Hays, no known address, was booked at the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of trafficking of a controlled Substance.
