PacificSource Releases Health Insurance Rates
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Idaho Insurance Exchange officially opens up on October first. But one health insurance company has already released its rates.
Health care changes are on the way, and you'll have to decide if you can afford them.
PacificSource Health Plans is the first insurer in Idaho to announce what it will be charging for health insurance. That will give customers an extra month to start shopping.
Dave Self, Senior Vice President for PacificSource Idaho, says, "Without having the price in hand, it's very difficult for someone to make a value decision as to not only what's right for them, but for what they can afford."
October first is when the Idaho Health Exchange will open. Insurance plan options will be available both through the exchange, and outside of it as well. But it's a good idea to have an insurance professional go through the process with you.
David Wilcox, owner of Magic Valley Insurance, says, "As a broker, it'll be a tool we use to sit down with somebody and say, here are all the plan options available to you. The Idaho Exchange is the only way you'll be able to get a federal government subsidy if you're eligible, towards helping pay for your health insurance plan."
As David Wilcox points out this is a fundamental shift in healthcare insurance that will likely be a bumpy ride.
A town hall meeting will be held at the Turf Club on Tuesday, September 24th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For more information on tickets, call Steve Moore at 733-7258, ext. 5600.
