Proposed Jerome Skate Park Gets Boost From Tony Hawk

By Jay Michaels

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A year ago, a new committee took over the fund raising effort for the proposed Jerome Skate Park.

They recruited the city, county, and the Jerome Recreation District, as well as the Rotary Club. Recently the fundraising got a boost from a big name in skate boarding.

Skate Park committee member Bryan Craig says, "We put in a grant application to Tony Hawk, they bought into it and gave us $5,000 towards the park also. They want some input on the design, which makes sense."

Phase one of the skate park will cost $100,000 and be about half the size of the Twin Falls Skate Park.

County Auto in Jerome has donated a 2004 Ford Mustang for a raffle, which has raised $4,000. The drawing will be held next month. A golf scramble will be held September 21st at 93 Golf Ranch to raise money, as well.
