Stage One Fire Restriction In Effect

By Brittany Cooper

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A Stage One Fire restriction is being expanded to include all public lands south of Interstate 84.

These areas include private and agency lands protected by the Sawtooth National Forest, the BLM, the Idaho Department of Lands, and Forest Protection Districts.

This is in addition to the fire restrictions already in effect for areas north of I–84.

"Fire management officers really keep their fingers on the pulse of hot and dry conditions, we're clearly in an extremely high fire danger and so they chose to implement Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for those counties that were listed south of Interstate 84," adds Heather Tiel-Nelson of the BLM.

What this means is building, maintaining or using a fire, campfire or stove fire is prohibited unless it's in an agency designated recreation site .

Smoking is also prohibited unless it's within an enclosed vehicle, building or designated recreation site.
