Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Grocery stores are keeping busy in the Wood River Valley as people continue to stock up on much needed supplies.
With the Beaver Creek Fire continuing to ravage the landscape, locals are taking a page from the Boy Scout manual.
Being prepared is always a good thing for any natural disaster.
But with the Beaver Creek fire igniting with little notice.
Some residents in the Wood River Valley were caught off guard.
Idaho's First News touched base with one local market to see what's most in demand.
“Right now you’re seeing a lot of the extra water and grab it and go type sandwiches and that. It’s kind of a two edge sword… you get a lot of people coming in and buying the quick things. It’s been up some days and down other days. It just depends on how bad the smoke is or how many people are coming back to town or leaving town.”
Said Store Manager Monte Brothwell from the Hailey Atkinson’s Market
Brothwell says that both Atkinson’s Markets in Hailey and Ketchum will remain open during regular business hours.
But they are encouraging residents to remain calm if the store is running low on any specific item.
As crews continue to battle to keep highway 75 open... Shipments are expected to remain on schedule.
