Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) We now know the Nampa Police Department will be investigating the shooting of a dog in Filer by a city cop.

Meanwhile the controversy continues in the small town tonight, as another gathering was held.

This one in support of Officer Tarek Hassani.

Only a handful of people showed up at the Cedar Lanes Bowling Alley.

They believe Officer Hassani was justified in shooting Hooch, a black lab, he claimed was aggressive.

Misty Hancock says, "I felt that both sides of the story should be heard. My daughter was actually chased by the dogs at one point. I think Officer Hassani did the best he could in the situation he was put in, and feel that he needs some support."

The incident was caught on the officers dash camera, and has since gone viral nationwide.

Supporters for the officer told us they've received death threats on Facebook.

Yesterday hundreds gathered in filer to demand action be taken against Hassani.

Mark Deaton said, "we don't wish any bad upon him. Anybody that's harassing him we feel like they should be punished if they're directly harassing him. That's not what this is about. This is about him using deadly force when there were many other options that could have been used."
