Temporary Dog Park Open And Ready For Your Pooch

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Looking for a safe place to take your dog on a walk?

The City of Twin Falls has made this happen with a temporary dog park inside Harmon Park.

Currently the City is creating Baxter's Park, a Permanent dog park for your 4–legged friend.

But as construction continues locals are still in the need of a temporary park.

Field number 3 inside Harmon Park is that place.

On Monday crews installed a temporary fence at the converted softball field, in an effort to keep the dogs inside the field securely.

As Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Director Dennis Bowyer says... the temporary park has what you need to keep your dog happy.

As long as you follow the rules.

“We’re not going to turn on the lights I’ll tell you that for the dogs anyways to let them run around at night time. We just wanted to have another place so that they can let their dog run free. We do have some doggy bag dispensers so just remind people to pick up after the pets themselves. We do have some rules and regulations set up their… just try to have people police themselves.”
Said Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Director Dennis Bowyer

The temporary park is open 7 days a week from 6 AM until 11 PM.

Baxter's Park is currently getting its irrigation system installed.

But as the weather goes here in southern Idaho, crews are weary that they will be able to lay seed this year.

A preliminary opening day for Baxter's Park is set for early summer of 2014.
