Twin Falls School District Making Changes

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Parents, listen up.

Before you plan your summer vacations, the Twin Falls School District is making some changes that may affect you.

The 2014-2015 school year will begin a week earlier.

The first day of school will be August 25th.

A calendar committee comprised of representatives from each school recommended the change following a survey of staff and parents.

Teachers want the extra time to prepare their students for spring testing.

However, that's just the first phase.

The 2015-2016 school year will start a week earlier than the year before, which means the school will have an additional two weeks to prepare for spring testing.

It also means the first semester will end when Christmas break begins.
