Tooele County, Utah (CNN) Two people were injured in a gas explosion Friday morning in Tooele County, Utah.

A plant manager at U.S. Magnesium says the two men lifted the lid of a furnace and were burned by hot gas.

A burn center spokesperson says both men are in critical condition.

The plant manager says explosions at the facility are "rare" and the plant has a "relatively good safety record."

The company plans to do an internal investigation to find the cause of the blast.
