US Air Force Bans Hemp Seeds, Chobani Offers Replacement For Yogurt Batch
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Media outlets reveal the US Air Force has banned Greek yogurt containing hemp seeds.
Chobani's "Blueberry Power Flip" contains a side of walnuts, chia, and hemp seeds to be mixed into the yogurt. Hemp contains tiny amounts of the chemical THC, the active ingredient in marijunana.
The Air Force is concerned the hemp seeds could confuse drug tests for its personnel.
The New York based Chobani company has already begun to remove those seeds from the yogurt in question as a result of the Air Force's ruling.
Chobani customers have also noticed some yogurt cups swelling or bloating. As a result, the company is issuing a voluntary recall. They've replaced most of the containers with the code 16-012. That batch has the expiration dates between 9/11/2013 and 10/7/2013.
If you have Chobani yogurt with those dates, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org so they can get you some replacement yogurt containers.
