Update on Hell Roaring Fire

Firefighters continue to battle the Hell Roaring Fire twelve miles south of Stanley.

Latest perimeters show the fire size at 320 acres.

Firefighters made great progress today.

The fire is now 60 percent contained.

Today crews worked to construct line on the west flank of the fire.

On Sunday, they will work to secure the northern edge of the fire.

Hand crews are assisted by aerial resources dropping water and retardant, including a type 1 helicopter.

170 personnel are assisting in the effort.

The fire started July 4th and the cause is still under investigation.
No structures have been lost and there are currently none being threatened.

There are area closures in effect on the western side of Highway 75.
