WR And Twin Falls Look To Go Deep In Districts
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Only two games separated the Wood River Wranglers from the Twin Falls Blackhawks in the conference standings.
Wood River enters the district tournament with a first–round bye and plays the winner of the Twin Falls Cowboys, Rigby Trojans.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks finished third in the west standings and play the sixth seed, Upper Valley Cougars of the east.
Both Wood River and Twin Falls finished the seasons with winning records and in some cases, surprised themselves.
Lars Hovey, Wood River Head Coach says, "we had the players fill out goal sheets at the beginning of the year.. a majority of the players put down for team goals to try and get to a .500 season and make the district tournament which I don't think we've made in four years...all of a sudden we got on a roll, I think we won the first 22 games ...and so the goals seemed to changed a little bit and we ended up 27–6.”
"We did really good this season. The beginning of the season was kind of slow, but we have come a long ways and I'm really excited for districts," explains Braden Griffith, Twin Falls Blackhawks.
Colton Knaup, also of the Blackhawks adds, "I have personally enjoyed playing legion with Coach Slotten, coming to Canyon Ridge, having a good time and winning some baseball games."
Twin Falls plays at 12 pm at Canyon Ridge, while Wood River plays at 3 pm at Twin Falls High School.
