102 Year Old Dorothy Custer Base Jumps Off Perrine Bridge
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Dorothy Custer turned one hundred and two years old on May 30th. She says the key to a long life is action and not worrying about your age.
"Well I've often wondered that too, but I've never thought of age. I just went on living and having a good time and doing what was necessary. I don't think of age right now," said Dorothy Custer.
Last year on her 101st birthday Dorothy decided to zip line for the first time. This year she is BASE jumping off the Perrine Bridge.
Custer originally wanted a calm 102nd birthday, until her family suggested otherwise.
"No, I've never even thought of it until Greg and Sean came out. I was thinking of going to jump out of a plane but then I found out it was too much. So then I said forget it, I'll just have a very calm birthday," said Dorothy Custer.
That calm birthday didn't quite work out so well for Custer. Her family's birthday present to her was a tandem jump with professional BASE jumper, Sean Chuman. Needless to say, Custer is Chuman's oldest client.
"She is the oldest lady I've ever jumped with, I'm really excited for her really because I've never met a lady her age that wants to jump off so if she wants to jump off, I'm excited to do it. It's going to be really cool," said professional BASE jumper Sean Chuman.
Everyone wanted to know why she decided to BASE jump. But she's not even quite sure herself.
"Why am I? I've kind of asked myself that to, I guess probably because I don't know any better," said Dorothy Custer.
A hundred and two years old and still soaring to new heights.
