Boise, Idaho (KMVT-TV) CapEd, Capital Educators Federal Credit Union, will award its sixth April Teacher Grant of the Month to Jo Dodds in the amount of $750.00 at Twin Falls High School in Twin Falls, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 3:25 pm.
Dodds will use the grant to purchase Cosmic and Planetary Evolution CDs and readers for the Voyages Through Time Project. VTT is a student centered curriculum in which students participate in a variety of inquiry based learning.
"With Voyages Through Time, students will understand processes that contribute to change over time, different time scales and rates of change, connections and relationships across these realms of change, and science as a process for advancing our understanding of the natural world," stated Dodds.
The Federal Credit Union’s seventh April Teacher Grant of the Month to Rachele Asbury in the amount of $750.00 at Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home. Her presentation is still being scheduled.
Asbury will use the grant to purchase 24 Chester Creek Lesson Board Pro keyboards for use in her computer lab.
Asbury elaborated, "There seems to be a disconnect between students leaving their Introduction to Keyboarding class and entering my Business Computer Applications I class. The students are coming into class without the proper skills to touch type. If my students are not able to type with speed and accuracy, they tend to have a difficult time being successful in my class and all of their other classes as well. Typing is a life-long skill."
