Luna Makes Stop In Twin Falls To Talk Education Reform

Tools

By Paul Johnson

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) State superintendent of public instruction Tom Luna stopped by the Magic Valley. Luna talked to the Rotary Club of Twin Falls about school reform laws. In 2011, Luna worked with Governor Butch Otter on an education reform package.
Through the "students come first" laws, Idaho has reformed its public education system to educate more students at a higher level with limited resources.
Now, the state and local school districts have the policies and resources in place to make every classroom a 21st century classroom.
Superintendent Luna says many people want to know about the laws and that's why he is going around the state. "When you have the benefit for high school students to earn a year of credit before they graduate from high school all paid for by the State, people realize it's a positive opportunity. And when they realize Students Come First helps every child in Idaho have equal access and opportunity and for the first time we are accomplishing that it's a very positive result."
